Red Collar Biography

boot

Durham, North Carolina based Red Collar formed in the Fall of 2005.  Red Collar’s members are part of a large community of small-town northern ex-pats who now call North Carolina’s Research Triangle (Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh) their home.  High energy live shows have drawn growing audiences.

Led by front man and guitarist Jason Kutchma, the band consists of Michael Jackson on guitar, Andrew Blass on keyboards, Beth Kutchma on bass and Jonathan Truesdale on drums.  All members provide vocal support.  Jason’s thoughtful lyrics, a product of the assembly-line ethic in a confusing cubical work life are the foundation of the band’s attitude and sound.

In March 2007, Red Collar was selected from over 500 bands by ReverbNation to perform at their showcase party at SXSW.  Red Collar has also performed at D.C’s Six Point Music Festival, Durham’s Troika Music Festival, and Baton Rouge’s Gas, Food & Lodging Festival.

Red Collar heads to the studio in late November 2007 to record their first full length record with producer Brian Paulson (Wilco, Archers of Loaf, and Superchunk).  The record is set for a March 2008 release.
